ATP Houston 2025 Prediction
Clay tournaments are a bit unusual in the United States, but to prepare for the European clay swing, the players have the ATP Houston event.
This year, Tommy Paul enters as the top seed and betting favorite (20.41% implied chance). Although he's not a clay specialist, he had notable performances at the Australian Open and in Dallas, which propelled him into the Top 10 for the first time. He starts as the favorite both in the seeding and in the odds.
Frances Tiafoe comes in second, but he's in a visible decline of form, and also not a clay player. Even so, he still maintains a high rank and is capable of winning big, despite his shaky form. But we wouldn’t bet much on him going far in Houston.
Alejandro Tabilo (3rd seed and fifth favorite by odds – 5.90%) is a good clay player but seems to be in pretty bad form lately, with a win/loss record of 2–8. Instead, we'll keep an eye on Tomas Martin Etcheverry (who has at least played some clay matches this season, with various degrees of success so far) and Cristian Garin (4.03% chance), who seems to be in similar form.
Kei Nishikori (3.64% chance) is a good clay player, but the Japanese star has shown a decline in form since his lost final in Hong Kong. However, he might still be considered a dark horse.
The Houston 2025 lineup is mixed: one in-form player (Paul) who is not particularly strong on clay, and a bunch of clay specialists who appear to be out of form overall.
