Traditionally, the defending gentlemen's singles champion inaugurates play on Centre Court on the first day of the Championships. This year, for the first time, Carlos Alcaraz will take on this honor. He clinched this role by defeating Novak Djokovic last year.
Who Will Win Wimbledon 2024? Follow Our Live Updates
Monday's WTA play features two reigning Major champions: Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka, taking center stage. Additionally, another pair of Slam winners, Victoria Azarenka and Sloane Stephens, will face each other in a compelling opening round match on Day 1.

Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka are the favorites to win Wimbledon 2024. This prediction, made before the start of the tournament, is based solely on bookmakers' odds. We will update the list of potential winners in real time as the tournament progresses. Keep in mind that each player's chances of winning range from 0 to 100%
Sinner Leads, Djokovic Eyes Potential Final Triumph
In the gentlemen's competition, the favorite is also the season's most in-form player, Jannik Sinner. While some might argue that Carlos Alcaraz, as the defending champion, has better odds, the bookmakers favor Sinner. This preference is partly because Sinner triumphed in Halle, while Alcaraz was ousted in the round of 16 in London by Draper.

Surprisingly, the third favorite is Novak Djokovic, who will compete in London following his knee surgery after Roland Garros. This tournament could be the Serbian's last opportunity to clinch another Wimbledon title.

However, Djokovic's chances appear slim: he has not won any titles this year, and his form is notably below his usual standard. While Djokovic still has a reasonable chance, betting on him for Wimbledon 2024 would be a risk.

Sabalenka Favorite, Tight Race with Swiatek
In the women's tournament, Aryna Sabalenka is the favorite, with Iga Swiatek close behind. Although Swiatek prefers slower surfaces — which isn't a significant disadvantage — she has yet to excel at Wimbledon, making Sabalenka's lead somewhat understandable.

However, both Sabalenka and Swiatek are neck-and-neck in their chances of winning as we write this article, setting the stage for a tight race to the title.

Elena Rybakina holds the position of third favorite, and deservedly so. She has been performing impressively at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in the past, and also reached a semifinal on grass in Berlin earlier in June.

Potential Dark Horses in Men's and Women's Draws
Let's now explore potential dark horses. In the men's competition, consider Jack Draper (ranked as the sixth favorite), Alex de Minaur (winner of the Rosmalen tournament), and Taylor Fritz, fresh from his victory at the Eastbourne Open. Also worth noting is Alex Zverev, a top ten player who reached the semifinals in Halle.

In the women's competition, Diana Shnaider, who surprisingly clinched the Bad Homburg tournament, is one to watch. Katie Boulter has shown consistent form on grass, and Emma Raducanu also posted solid results on grass in June. Additionally, Naomi Osaka, who has made a strong return to the tour this year, demonstrated impressive performance against the world number one, Iga Swiatek.

In the men's competition, the title will likely be won by one of the top 5 favorites, with Jannik Sinner being our top pick. In contrast, the women's competition could see a dark horse emerge as the champion.
