Stefanos Tsitsipas, probably the most out-of-form top player this season, will try to beat Nuno Borges for the second time in 2025 and wash away some of the shame from a completely failed season.

Anything But Tennis

Stefanos, the Greek with extraordinary talent and a particularly elegant one-handed backhand, seems more passionate about anything else but tennis. Personal relationships (see the Tsitsidosa saga), the hiring and firing of coaches, motivational quotes on X, and so on. Anything, but results.
If we don't count the title won in Dubai, Tsitsipas's season is a disastrous one. The Greek has left the top 10 and has slipped to the #25 position (for now). If he continues like this, things are looking bad for him. Two early withdrawals from matches (at Barcelona and Monte Carlo), followed by subpar performances, have thrown Stefanos into semi-anonymity. At Wimbledon, with a new coach in Goran Ivanisevic, Tsitsipas achieved the "feat" of withdrawing for a third time, citing back pain.
After Ivanisevic went public and blasted him, the Greek quickly fired him and resumed training alongside his father. However, good results have not been seen to this day.

Nuno Borges: In His Lane

On the other side of the net, Nuno Borges hasn't had an extraordinary season either, but he has nonetheless stayed in his lane. Not showing off, not falling behind. Being more of a clay-court player, or a slow-court player, his best performance in 2025 is knocking out Casper Ruud at Roland Garros, in the 2nd round. He also had a win against Rune at Monte Carlo, but the Dane retired in the second set there. Otherwise, nothing special.

Prediction: An Open Match

The prediction would have been easy if there were a real favorite. Sure, Tsitsipas always has the necessary weapons to get past Borges very easily. The problem is that the Greek is out of form, and Nuno knows this. The Portuguese player will try to take advantage of the situation, and, we'd say, he has the upper hand according to our data.
The betting odds, however, see it differently, having Tsitsipas as the favorite. You can see the figures and percentages here; overall, the final prediction is Tsitsipas as a 51% favorite. Which means a match open to any result.
