As expected, the WTA Stuttgart Open — also known as the Porsche Grand Prix — has a stellar lineup, headlined by the best female player of the season so far: Aryna Sabalenka.

The Belarusian has made the most of 2025, claiming a Grand Slam title and the Miami Open. She currently leads the rankings with a 3000-point gap over Iga Swiatek. Speaking of Iga, she’s had one of her worst seasons to date. No titles, and even more surprisingly, not a single final appearance. Despite being seeded #2, the way she’s playing right now gives her almost no real shot at the title, even though clay is her favorite surface. That said, perhaps Stuttgart will mark a turning point, now that she’s finally back on the surface she likes most.

For Sabalenka — and for Swiatek too — the biggest threat is sixth seed Mira Andreeva, the rising star of the tour. The young Russian has already won two WTA 1000 titles this season, in Dubai and Indian Wells, beating all the top players along the way — including Swiatek (twice!) and Sabalenka. Andreeva is in the bottom half of the draw, so there’s a strong chance she’ll meet Sabalenka in the final. If the seeds hold, she’ll likely face Pegula in the quarterfinals and Swiatek in the semis. And based on recent stats, she’s actually the favorite in both potential matchups.

Since the tournament is played on indoor clay, we should also mention one of the surface’s most consistent players: Jasmine Paolini. The Italian hasn’t had a standout season so far and is still riding the momentum from last year, but she remains a serious threat on clay.

Expect a tense and tightly contested tournament, with several players having a good shot at the title. Who will come out on top will become clearer as the event unfolds.
